There are crowds ofvisitors here most of the year, and you may find yourselfbeing hurried through some of the sections, especially the Crown Jewels exhibition. It is an astonishing place all the same, steeped in history. Many of the natiorA most daring personalities ended up here, as prisoners or as reluctant "guests"; or, like Henry VIII's wives Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard, on a final trip to the executioner's block. Tours conducted by the Yeoman Warders, or "Beefeaters," give an excellent introduction, after which you can wander at will to ponder the Bloody Tower, Traitors' Gate, the Tower Ravens and the execution site at Tower Green.
