This is both London's museum of modern art and the primary gallery for British painting. Large and airy, the gallery holds an especially good cubist collection, many major contemporary pieces by Salvador Dali, David Hockney, Joan Miro, and plenty of weird postcontemporary others. Among the avant-garde works are regular exhibitions by up-and-coming stars. The architecturally postmodern Clore Gallery houses an extensive collection of Turner's oils and drawings and is one of the most influential mounters of "new edge" exhibitions.
